Pleasure Island overview
Pleasure
Island is a part of Downtown Disney that is in transition, and still
seeking an identity. Pleasure Island was previously billed as the
nighttime hotspot of Downtown Disney with eight nightclubs- most
of which were open to all ages. Three of the clubs were only open
to ages 21 and up. As of September, 2008 Disney has closed all of
the clubs at Pleasure Island, and is planning to transform the area
into new mix of shopping and dining experiences over the next couple
of years.
There are still a handful of shops, restaurants, and things to
do at Pleasure Island- including some new stuff!
Celebrate Tonight!
Celebrate
Tonight! Is a new street party at the West End Plaza on Pleasure
Island. Street party guests can celebrate birthdays, anniversaries,
or whatever! There's a DJ, group dances, and sing-alongs every evening.
Characters in Flight Balloon Ride
If
you've ever had the urge to get a bird's-eye view of Walt Disney
World and the surrounding areas, then the Characters in Flight Balloon
Ride may be just for you!
The balloon is tethered to the ground, so you don't have to worry
about getting blown away. This 6 minute ride will lift you up to
about 400 feet for a great panoramic view of Disney World and the
Orlando area- a truly 'uplifting' experience!
T-Rex: A Prehistoric Family Adventure
Located
in Downtown Disney on the border between Downtown Disney's Marketplace
and Pleasure Island, T-Rex: A Prehistoric Family Adventure is part
restaurant, part adventure, and all FUN!
From the company that brings you Rainforest Café, this casual eatery
offers prehistoric-themed menu items such as Triassic Tortellini
and Bronto Burgers, and features live music on the waterfront. You'll
enjoy dining and music nestled amongst dinosaurs, bubbling geysers,
and waterfalls. There's even a place for the kids to dig for fossils!
