Top rides & attractions at Animal Kingdom
Disney's
Animal Kingdom offers a refreshing change of pace from the other
parks. Although there are plenty of rides and attractions, the stars
of the shows are the animals themselves. While everyone who visits
Animal Kingdom should be sure check out the wildlife in Kilimanjaro
Safaris, here are some other attractions we recommend as 'Can't
Miss' attractions at Walt Disney World's Animal Kingdom.
Expedition
Everest
All aboard! As you climb this mountain train for a trip up Mount
Everest in this exciting roller coaster. Located in Asia, this coaster
is the most popular ride at Animal Kingdom, and one of the most
exciting in all of Walt Disney World. You'll want to get to this
one early- and grab a FASTPASS to make the most of the ride, and
your day at Animal Kingdom.
You'll go forward- and backward on this wild thrill ride amongst
glaciers, icy cliffs, and bamboo forests. You'll even come face
to face with a Yeti as he roams the icy mountains! Although this
coaster is exciting enough to give teens and grownups a thrilling
ride, it's not too scary for the little ones. So, if they're tall
enough (44 inches), and brave enough, have them give it a go!
Kali
River Rapids
Ride the rapids in this family-style water ride that is sure to
leave the whole family soaked! The Kali River winds through the
jungles of Asia taking each eight-passenger raft through rapids,
waterfalls, and even geysers!
The raft slowly turns as you travel down the river, so depending
on where you're sitting you may get completely soaked- or just really,
really wet! There's even a bridge with water canons where previous
riders or passersby can wait- ready to douse you with water! Be
sure to put cameras or other electronics in the storage bin at the
center of the raft- you certainly don't want them as soaked as you!
Although the ride has its thrilling moments (as you wait to see
who gets the wettest) it's not too scary for little kids. If they're
tall enough to take along (38 inches) they'll have a blast!
Festival
of the Lion King
When you've had enough of the African heat, and blizzards of Everest,
and after you've cooled off in Asia on Kali River Rapids, head over
to Camp Minnie-Mickey to check out one of Animal Kingdom's awesome
shows for a change of pace.
Festival of the Lion King is a very entertaining Broadway-style
show, performed 'in the round' in an air conditioned theater. The
show encourages audience participation, and faithfully re-creates
the Lion King movie. Simba, Rafiki, Mufasa, and their friends are
joined by a host of jungle performers to keep you entertained throughout
this ½ hour show.

Acrobats perform on the trapeze during the Festival
of the Lion King
We really enjoyed the monkey acrobats pull off amazing maneuvers
on the trapeze and trampolines, and the fire dancers too! For a
great way to beat the heat and be entertained too, check out Festival
of the Lion King at Disney's Animal Kingdom! |
