Visiting Hollywood Studios
Although
there is a short opening show at Hollywood Studios, we found it
a little hokey and not very entertaining. By the time they finished
the show, we were more than ready to get moving!
- The Tower of Terror may be too scary for younger kids. It's
not so much the ride itself, as it is the pre-ride atmosphere.
Just being in line was enough to send our 9-year-old to the exit.
- There is no place to store valuables during the ride at Rock
'n' Roller Coaster. Since you exit in a different spot than where
you board, you'll have to hold your things between your feet on
the ride, or leave them with a non-rider in your party. There
are also lockers near the park entrance if you prefer.
The
Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show is a great attraction
definitely worth seeing, but it's a loooong walk from the rest
of the rest of the park. Also, if you sit close you'll see better,
but you'll bake in the sun throughout the show. The seats that
are higher up offer a good view too, and the short overhang will
provide some shade during the show.
- If you ride Star Tours and you're worried about motion sickness,
ask to sit in the front when you get to the head of the line.
There's less movement than in the back seats.
If
you begin to get motion sick during the Star Tours ride (or any
other motion simulator) you'll be tempted to close your eyes.
DON'T! It will make it worse. You're better off focusing on a
fixed point straight ahead that's NOT on the video screen. Look
at a spot on the wall or anything that's straight ahead and NOT
moving!
- Don't miss the Animation Academy at the end of the "Magic of
Disney Animation" attraction. You'll get to learn to draw a Disney
character during a short step-by-stop drawing lesson, and you
get to keep your drawing when you're done. It makes a great souvenir!
You can even go back again to draw different characters throughout
the day.
- If you go see "Muppet Vision 3-D" (or any 3-D feature at Walt
Disney World) be sure to sit near the center of the theater toward
the back. You'll get a more convincing 3-D effect.
- There is a brand new American Idol attraction at Hollywood Studios
where guests will get a chance to perform in front of other theme
park guests. You'll be judged by other guests and if you're one
of the best, you'll get to compete in a grand finale at the end
of the day!
Some
of the restaurants at Hollywood Studios participate in a "Fantasmic"
(Hollywood Studios' closing show) dinner package. You can have
dinner and still have a seat reserved for you at the show.
